share

share Remember when the Lompoc Record actually had cute stories like this about Lompoc residents? I think this kid is great. And even though I've never been to Sisquoc I'm sure it was super cool to have Selznick go to his school. I'm just saying the Lompoc Record has changed. A LOT.

Life is a Compilation of Choices...

...My ability to make good choices is only limited by what I think a good choice is. I did not choose to focus on Christmas this year. I love Christmas. I keep a little bit of it up all year round in various places. One year I was so overwhelmed by "ALL OF A SUDDEN IT IS CHRISTMAS" that I decided to not ever let Christmas catch me off guard again. I acknowledge the season. I honor my beliefs and share them appropriately. If I feel like it I shop. But I don't really enjoy shopping at Christmas. Shopping is sacred to me. I love shopping year round. I can only go shopping with my sister about once every 5 years because her love and skill for shopping makes me look like a kindergartener. Merry Christmas.

Daniel Nestor

I don't know a whole lot about Daniel Nestor He and his partner this year Max Mirnyi are still in with a chance at the ATP World Championships in London. Daniel has had a good many partners. As a single woman who is always looking I know how it is to try to find a good partner. Shouldn't get in the way of acknowledging his amazing record as a great doubles player.

Love Tennis

I am in Hog Heaven. The Tennis Channel is bringing me the ATP World Championships live. I get to watch it from my beloved couch and tweet and facebook. David Ferrer is such an amazing man. Andy Murray holds the world on his shoulders and wears it like a spec of dust. Jo-Wilfred Tsonga lives in a world I don't know about and takes it on the court with him. Roger Federer rules the world in the most super human benevolent manner that it brings tears to the Devils eyes. Novak Djokovic is super sweet and making me want to learn Slavic languages. Mardy Fish needs to come to Lompoc and golf at La Purisima and let me follow him with my camera. Tomas Berdych is growing some serious balls. Rafael Nadal eclipses them all and you just have to wonder how?

My Favorite Doubles Players

Liezel Huber and Michael Llodra I saw both of these players practicing at Indian Wells earlier this year. Llodra is my vanity pick because he spoke to me and told me he liked my dress. Totally made my day. Made up almost for Gilles losing with out hardly touching the ball against Ivo Karlovic

Let's Go to Bed...the day after I was there.

I remember from December.

My Favorite Player

Gilles Simon is my favorite player because of his attitude. It makes me feel joyful. He is so talented and loves the game. He is super smart. Amazingly strong. And an incredible family man. You just can't buy character.

Greek and Roman Myth in Junior High

Yesterday for the first me ever I read a book to children that I had brought to class myself. I usually have something to read for myself in my book bag. I knew when I put the Greek myth book in my bag, it was a children's book. The thought did cross my mind that it was meant to be read aloud to children. It was actually part of the title.

I was subbing in a resource class at our local junior high school. One period was a remedial reading class, and the textbook needed some prep time to me without having worked with the lessons before. So I broke out the book, "Classic Myths to Read Aloud". I read the story of how seasons originated with Demeter and her daughter to the children. With Zeus and Hades and Hermes and Iris all playing their epic parts. The kids loved it. I was not surprised because I loved it when I was their age, and I still do. I really miss literature and the classics. I have always been a student. I have enjoyed being a substitute teacher very much.
