Last Chance 2012 Fitness Challenge

After beginning the year at my weigh loss goal and then surpassing that by having a perfect round of p90x/Insanity hybrid my motivation...my high school reunion in June...passed. My big dream event of the Inaugural Lompoc Tennis Festival Last Fortnight September 2012 was more of a semi fictional/virtual fantasy affair rather than the star studded tourist attraction I had dreamed of. Guess what? Reality 101: in order to be happy and healthy and in the right frame of mind to have future failures and motivational mile stones I have to get through the normal days of working and playing and celebrating the holidays...with my fitness and nutrition fueling the body and mind! Luckily I have a lot of support for my goals in place. My friends at the 5 AM fit club at the gym posted an end of the year challenge and I have committed to tracking every bite on the SparkPeople nutrition tracker, going to the gym in the 5 AM hour 4 times a week and wowying it...So here I am challenging all of my Sparkpeoples and Players for Peace peoples to plug into the great habits you have already and even start developing some more to help make this the best end of the year of fitness and nutrition that it could possible be. 11/25/2012

Early INXS...We all have wings...Did he know why?

Super cool dude...I never watched the videos too much until recently. When did he start phoning it in...he was having a cigarette during a song in Aspen in the late 90's. I love YouTube.

The only bad thing about being a tennis fan...

...is feeling guilty for how much time it takes to be a tennis fan...I saw most of these matches live on ESPN.go.com/watchnow

Thanks For Sharing Juan

Juan Martin Del Potro from Tandil Argentina. I watched him practice at Indian Wells in 2011 or 10. I remember remarking to the kid standing next to me that he sure does make the court look small. Beautiful strokes....easy power on the serve...he's got more if he watches what he eats and presses play...Bring it!

Open Invitation...Visit Lompoc California Last Fortnight September 2012

Lompoc Tennis Festival Last Fortnight September 2012 D-day is approaching. I blame it all on Mr Roger Federer...but avoiding Andy says a lot.
I made a declaration. My town is totally depressed by the economy and our geographically disadvantaged location for sprawling metropolis. Tennis anyone? Our courts are an embarrassment. I don't play very often...but when I do it's all about aiming for the pot holes for the advantage over my opponent. If Rafa agreed to come and visit my town I'd have to take him to the golf course. And then I'd try to sell it to him!

Back on the Wagon: Workout Rule 101

http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4890100 The sooner you start over the better. Keeping going means starting over every day. I measure my fitness success by how many workouts I get done in a month. The past month has been normal...but I started out the year good. Tomorrow I am getting back to it and starting over every day.

Nole: #1 But I Still Like Him

I have enjoyed cheering for Nole especially since I took some pictures of him in Indian Wells in 2010. Since then he has catapulted from a solid #3 to a Mr Invincible 2011 to holding onto #1 in 2012. Now I can maybe learn a little Serbian watching his videos :)

Do You Need a Heart Rate Monitor?

Honestly I only wore my heart rate monitor in the last year seriously for my first round of Insanity because it was a new program and it was so intensely anaerobic. Let's just say that the heart-rate monitor confirmed that I needed to make modifications often compared to the folks falling out on the screen. Get a heart rate monitor. I like the wristband easy peasy one that has enough bells and whistles on it but doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Most local sporting goods stores carry a good selection. If you are new to knowing your limits you may find that a heart-rate monitor is very helpful. The old self monitoring scale of how you feel is my general m. o.
