It happens that I go back and find things that I posted from #YouTube that are wiped out. I replace them when I see them. Usually more closely to my original post unless it's something like this.

#LivingtheDream In #LompocCalifornia

I have a dream that someday there will be a professional ATP event in my hometown. A new formatted invitational Featuring turned on pro-ams with legends and current players. This multi purpose event will be barely eclipsed by the usual 250 to 1000 point ATP/WTA calendar event. I'd like it to be on clay...indoors. There's a Babe Ruth field north west of town that would make a perfect #WestCoastSportsCenter. I originally hatched this idea on Facebook with my dear friend and former virtual roommate Rose. It has been a wonderful pumped up memory from 2012. I've seen inaugural events come and go since then that have stunned me a little. Rio De Janero would be our lead up event now. This year Rafa Nadal conceded the US Open North American tour. He never took advantage of or supported the South American clay court swing once hsis career exploded. He was the marquee player in Rio's inaugural event. Lucky SOB. Same year as the World Cup. I wonder if he saw many soccer matches there? It would be amazing to hit with Rafa or Roger or Gilles. I love to raise my my game and my fitness expecting more easys realization of my dream :)

#U2 - #JoshuaTreeTour - #LosAngeles - 18 Nov 1987

It is not often that I wonder how different my life would have been if.  But this tour has to make me wonder.  If I hadn't been so violently kicked out of the Cow Palace by Mr. Graham himself would the Cure be my favorite band?  Little things like that.  How many times have I been fired since then?  All similar experiences.  27...maybe 26 ish.  I never payed much attention to my favorite band again until I was walking the Avon 3 Day in the 2000's and heard Beautiful Day and remembered what love felt like.  Sick, sad, sorry, but true.  I love U2 and hardly listened to them for a couple of decades due to shear weird life experience...I think it was a flashlight incident.  The most popular band ever?  Thank goodness I like a lot of other bands.  It's good to hate for no good reason when it doesn't matter that much.  Bono makes me gag.  And I only missed Larry the drummer really.  No regrets.

It is Anybody's #USOPEN

There are no more surprises to be had at the USOPEN. Once you have made it past the first and second round you have done super well. Especially without Rafa on the mens' side. Rafa losing would be the only surprise until the final. Rafa is not there to lose anything. I wonder what Rafa is doing? Anything could happen on the ladies side if Serena does not win. That is nothing new. Roger Federer losing would bit be surprising. Roger winning would not be surprising either. Same with Nole. I hope someone like Tsonga or Berdych can step up and get their slam. And then there is always Stan :) This Slam is a nice big dog fight on the men's side. The flesh colored dresses that all the Adidas ladies are wearing are kind of Blah. But if you think about those ladies battling it out flesh colored is appropriate. Not a great fashion statement but those ladies are putting their flesh out there as athletes. It would be nice if it was an anti fashion statement.

#TheloniousMonk Quartet 1964 ~ #JustYouJustMe

#USOPEN American Broadcasters Needed Year Round in #ATP Commentary

I watch tennis year round. I just started this pass time in the last 9 years or so. I've noticed it before. The USOPEN is a crucible like no other grand slam. American perspective of sports is the only perspective that I have. Being a Lompoc girl football, baseball, high school sports...that's always been the perspective I've had of sport. There aren't many American voices year round in tennis sports casting. The voice of football calling tennis all over the place in New York for two weeks is super different. The year round voices are Brits, South African, Aussies and maybe one American occasionally. I hardly ever hear references to baseball. There are 4 grand slams. Depending on their ranking and the quality of tournaments a player would qualify and how deep they go into a tournament ATP players compete on average in about 20 to 30 tournaments a 11 month season. I doubt it if many of these American broadcasters know that.

#PRINCE on The #ArsenioHall Show ( #playlist )

#AgnieszkaRadwanska vs #VenusWilliams #RogersCup FINAL TODAY

Watching Venus Williams play her last two matches made me very emotional. I am overwhelmed with joy. Seeing so many tennis players struggling with the exhausting game and elite competition is an entertaining aspect of the professional game...it is what sets it apart from the recreational level of play. Believe me I have played through injury and illness with my regular weekly play with my ladies group. I have watched Venus beat Carla Suarez Navarro and Serena this week. I'm weeping like a baby. I've watched her struggle through losing to new girls that are nearly a decade younger than her the past 2 years. She is so strong and complete. She is playing like she's going to be number one again if she can manage her health and body in the joy of the sport and profession that she embodies. It is stunning, and gives me hope an just seeing her fitness is extraordinary. It makes me appreciate vitality in myself and everyone else. Aga, Aga, Aga....how in the hell!!???!! I thought Sabine Lisiki was going to mow her down. Makarova...I want to compare her to Dementieva, but she has to be her own woman. How in THE hell?? Both of those girls are in high form...granted Sabine is a bit of an airhead or sumthin, but Makarova is unflappable and Agnieszka flapped her good. I hope she can make a good show with Venus. It's going to be popcorn worthy unless Venus mows Aga down...the popcorn might now be done popping before Venus is done if Aga can't break Venus. Venus is going to break Aga at least 3-5 times...I won't count...I'm just sayin...Let it roll!

#MilosRaonic vs #FelicianoLopez RIGHT NOW at #RogersCup

The first time I saw Milos Raonic he immediately reminded me of my friend Bradford. Brad is 6'5 and super fit...he also wears a lot of designer clothes and has a really famous sister. When I was taking pictures of Milos he was one of the players who actually took notice and posed a bit. I knew he was going to be a star and since then following him on Facebook has been exciting. Feliciano Lopez is one of my favorite players because when I was volunteering at UCLA for the first time in 2010 I kept crossing his path and then followed him to take photos. If Feli knew I was there I don't know it. Feliciano Lopez is one of the most gorgeous tennis players ever, but that doesn't make his game any less fierce. It's fun to see Milos and Feli playing RIGHT NOW in Toronto from my beloved couch.

It is on in #Canada! Tennis Fans Be Aware!!

I knew today was going to be a special day for tennis because it is Roger Federer's birthday, and he is playing David Ferrer...That is the night match...HOURS FROM NOW. I've already watched the Williams sister's matches and Sharapova's main squeeze is in the middle of a battle which could make Roger's match end tomorrow, after midnight!!! So I'm a little excited. I don't think I'm the only one. Venus Williams is into the semi final. From what I've heard in the ESPN3/WTA broadcast she hasn't played this tournament before. She's playing like she is new to the game. Her loss of the first set was largely due to her appreciation of Carla Suarez Navarro's back hand. Carla was hitting it like no one else and she had Venus playing her game trying to imitate her incredible slice backhand...word to Venus...you have a two handed backhand!! Venus woke up and started to play her own game again. Grace, power, strategy. Excitement!

#GodBlessAmerica #ATP& # WTA #Tennis is Back in North #America

Tomas Berdych just won the first set against Robbie Ginepri in his first match of the week at the CITI Open in Washinton, DC. Robbie has been out for ages (fell off a bicycle last I heard). He is the only active American player who has made it to the semi of a Major 2000 tournament. I have hope that he will come back in this match because he is an American playing in America and I am patriotic like that. It could happen. He is a big underdog, but Tomas is known for his wobbles in the final stages of a match. Jack Sock beat the Bryan Brothers at Wimbledon. Those three were the only Americans in it at the business end of the tournament. Jack is making bank as a doubles player and it is taking him places he would not be able to go at this stage of his early career as a singles player. He has got a wildcard into the Roger's Cup. Canada loves Jack :) Lucky lucky kid. I love Milos Raonic. He is a faithful poster from way back on Facebook. Getting HUGE. Ok, he has been huge for a while, but he is going to quadruple. If he was a stock...smart money hands down. And when he gets a back hand? Watch out!!

Dear #YahooVoices Thank You for Shutting Down

I started with Yahoo Voices in May 2014. They are shutting down July 31, 2014. My timing is always perfect.
I spent about an hour today cutting and pasting my Yahoo Voices articles that weren't 100% synced up with my Blog-spot links to the same articles. My discipline of writing articles only lasted for about a month, but I thought I would have Yahoo Voices as a writing environment for a lot longer than a couple months. I have found a lot of other writing environments that I might like since I joined Yahoo Voices. I appreciate the Yahoo Voices site with the ideas and tools that it provided for web copy writing. I never wanted to be a copy writer really anyway. It is a good discipline, but creativity turns into formula pretty quick in 400 words. I will always enjoy writing short quirky sentences. I have my Facebook page for that tho. I bought a $25 online screenwriting class from James Franco. Amazon has a self publishing service I might look into. I found an article that inspired me to hang out for a day or two on eLance. The internet is a great medium for great literature. Yahoo Voices along with many other yahoo products gives me an avenue to explore and contribute. Thank you Yahoo Voices. It was a short lived relationship, but it was an awesome discovery for me for other possibilities.

No Vacation for 2014 Managing Spectator Tennis: The Ultimate International Destination Sport

Originally published on YahooVoices May 21, 2014
April 14, 2014 to June 8, 2014…Monte-Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Nice, Roland Garros (Paris). Why did I not take a vacation this summer? The reality of watching so many matches live on my couch has not caught up with the dream of vacationing in these great cities. Eight weeks exclusively on the red clay. Sweet spots in Europe for sure, but don't let the destinations fool you. These eight weeks are arguably the most important weeks of the year for male professional tennis players. Especially for the best clay court player of all time, Rafael Nadal, this is a magical time of year. If the a fore mentioned dream sweep itinerary is not impressive enough, then try this one on for size: September 22, 2014 to October 19, 2014…Kuala Lumpur, Beijing, Shanghai, Moscow. The ATP World Tour indeed. The members of the ATP might have consulted with Captain Obvious from Hotels.com on the appropriateness of the organizations title. There is still time to book the trip, but the comfort of home will win out. If I traveled to these cities, I would have to watch some tennis and then I might miss out on most of the tourist attractions. With the help of ESPN3.com I can routinely plan on watching about 4 matches streamed live per day in the early rounds of these tournaments. The best way to accomplish such a vacation would be to go on the trip and forget the tennis until I get back and watch the replays online. Espn3.com keeps links up for replays for about a month. There are a lot of great active professional tennis players today. If you go by what the pundits of the tennis world are saying the level of play worldwide by tennis professionals has never been greater. Watching just the 3rd round through the quarterfinals live in person in Indian Wells, I found it much more taxing on the spectators than it is on any individual player. The gates open an hour before the first match. My strategy is usually to have the grounds pass and park myself on the second show court. After the last match of the day, I could be heading back to my hotel well after midnight. I will make it down to my new dream destination Rio de Janeiro for down under summer vacation February 14-22, 2015. Rafael Nadal won in the inaugural Rio Open 2014. Seeing him play in person on his beloved red clay would be worth missing a few tourist attractions in just one city.

The Summer Tennis Swing Starts This Week in Madrid Rankings Drama Before the French Open

Originally published on YahooVoices on May 16, 2014
The tried and true rivalries that event promoters and the players themselves could count on are over. For the past 7 years Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have been veritable shoe ins for winning any and all of the 4 major tournaments. Roger and Rafa have lost their grip on The Austrailian Open, French Open, Wimblendon, and The US Open. Everyone who is anyone in the ATP has lost to one or both of them sometime in their career in the past ten years or so. In the past 4 years you can add Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray to the short list of shoe ins for the final 4 standing at these tournaments. These superstars have an international appeal that transcends the sport. All four of these guys are still expected to win at these tournaments, but it is no longer a given...especially since Stanislas Wawrinka took home the trophy this year in Australia, the first major of the year. Stan represents the field both young and old who are popping up in final stages of tournaments where they haven't been before in their short or long careers. It is very inspiring to watch for some. But how could it affect the masses of fans who came to see Roger? Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are being asked at every turn if their tennis will ever be the same again? It's no wonder the greats from the past seemed to retire early! Each of these guys could probably play tennis forever if they didn't have to answer really really stupid questions over and over again. Why yes. Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lenl. Heard of them? They have finally followed John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg out onto the senior tour...Thanks to Jim Courier and his Inside Out production genius there is a senior tour where these geezers compete and draw thousands of spectators. When you think about Rafa's or Roger's fan base their potential for exhibitions or alternative competitive play outside the ATP could be pretty tantalizing for many venues. Both the ATP and WTA have founders who are active in promoting the sport. But change is inevitable. In America there isn't a lot of interest in tennis especially as a spectator sport. In California both the San Jose Open and the Los Angeles Open have shut down after decades of distinguished championship play. Avid players aren't necessarily watchers of tennis and random TV watchers aren't likely to find tennis as they channel surf in the USA. The networks who hold the rights to the final stages of the major tournaments don't even play the matches live! Whether it is a changing of the guard or not, Stan's win in Australia makes the standings shifts way more than just a blip on the screen. There is some tennis to be played this year! The draws are going to make a bigger difference now. Dangerous floaters are numerous in every round. Time to stock up on popcorn for Summer tennis viewing :)

Substitute Teacher Advice for Seniors

Enjoying the Kickback Days of Life Originally published on Yahoo Voices May 17, 2014
Substitute teachers, just like everyone else, see graduation as a major rite of passage for seniors graduating from high school. From our perspective, students and teachers tend to have more than a few days of kicking back at the end of the school year, knowing with great relief that another school year is delivering another graduating class. What is my advice to high school seniors? Think of life like those last couple weeks of high school. It's finished. You know you have grown from a little kid who can't skip to a young adult who is ready to go out into the world to work or go off to college chewing gum and walking straight at the same time. Life is good. Your teacher takes off a few days towards the end of the school year and you get me, the substitute, to show you that Disney video. Your teacher left the movie as a treat for the class of students whose high school careers are done and dusted. Without asking yourself you know this is a great treat without having to ask yourself is if this was such a great treat then why isn't the regular teacher there to enjoy it with you? If your attitude following graduation can resemble that of the last couple weeks of high school…the kick back days… then you will know the flow of rewards in life are always like that. You get in life what you can celebrate. What great fortune is there without the expectation of rewards for your accomplishments? Let your accomplishments surpass your imagination of rewards. In the great scheme things when you have the privilege of rewards that surpass your accomplishments will you complain? Finishing high school and receiving a diploma is not just for completing a milestone in life. Now the greater milestones of mankind can be recognized. Life has taught this substitute teacher along the way that these last leisurely days of high school, reveling in your accomplishments as a student, is good practice for reveling in all your accomplishments in the future. One day as a parent, a spouse, or an employee you will have many of these days to revel in and enjoy. Now as imminent college students you will have great hope that during the next four years, between now and college graduation, similar feelings of kicking back and basking in the accomplishment of finishing college work will be as rewarding and meaningful as anything you will ever accomplish. #California it is Time for an #ATP Event Now

Solvang Anyone? a Girl Can Dream
Solvang, California the little Copenhagen of the Central Coast would be the perfect venue for a new ATP event. Lompoc might even be a better spot for the event with Solvang as a nice resort area for the staff and players to lounge and relax in between matches. Real estate is cheaper in Lompoc and we would have to build some hotels to accommodate thousands of tennis nomads who travel the globe to watch the elite players wield their tennis rackets. Lompoc has a very long list of professional sport personalities on it's resume. Legends like Casey Candaele or Napoleon Kaufman could be in the stands and on the grounds for photo ops. Who knows maybe sometimes local Jimmy Connors would play. With his clout we could round up some old timers and do a ProAm or a legends exhibition. With the courts we have right now at Ryan Park we may have to build a few courts, but that is just a formality. A town the size of Lompoc is under-served in tennis courts. Advocating tennis at the highest level makes sense. Kids days are always on at ATP events. Sponsors will adore Lompoc. We have rocket scientists and we are a mecca for the mentally and chemically disabled. Not a well known fact perhaps, but the Special Olympics and organizations such as LOVARC and VTC are organizations that larger corporate sponsors love to be associated with. Scheduling is a whole nutter kettle of fish. American experts such as John McEnroe and Justin Gimelstop have been screaming for years for the American tennis market to come up with new and different formats that would appeal the home of Baseball, hot dogs, and apple pie crowd. Tennis has to find a way to be as sexy as an NFL Monday Night Football games. With the history and traditions that are kept in many longstanding tennis events the international flavor of the game could be lost in America. But we don't care...remember we are Americans after all. Lompoc is the best city on the central coast to host the next new ATP World Tour event. Anyone who has driven from Los Angeles to San Francisco will always wish they could go back to the Jalama Coast. Solvang has all the tourist appeal too. Tourist Central Coast dot org here I come!!

#Wimbledon 2014 Back to the Future of Tennis

Does John McEnroe Have Any Answers?
It's middle Sunday a Wimbledon . All of my Facebook friends are posting about Brazil's amazing win with a penalty kick off the rim. I hate soccer and I know this. Haven't watched a spec of the World Cup although it has been on at every bar and restaurant I've gone to in the past week or two. I'm more interested in solidifying that Henman Hill be officially named Murray Mound. And yes I am American. If I go out today in my hometown and ask 1000 people where is Henman Hill and what do you think of the name change to Murray Mound maybe 3 would know what I'm talking about. If I went to an active tennis club anywhere on the west coast the percentage wouldn't get much better. Even Americans who play tennis do not necessarily follow the professional events as they happen. Those that do generally stick with the 4 majors: The Australian Open, The French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. Even the commentators for those events don't show up for the little shows that the current professional players put on week in and week out 11 months of the year. Tennis is a year round sport for professional players. There are events that they are required to show up for at every corner of the calendar year. With such a robust global calendar how is it that so few Americans enjoy watching the sport? Is it just that baseball and football are that much more interesting? Being a tennis fan is harder than losing 10 pounds. The focus and attention that it takes to watch live matches and live a normal life is impossible. Right now we are in the middle of Wimbledon the third major. A week after the Wimbledon finals Stuttgart will be having their finals, then Bogata and Hamburg, and the week after that Atlanta. After a few years of following tennis and managing to watch live matches, the time of day becomes irrelevant. That is not a normal American trait. TV time outs and 25 second time limits between points are just a couple of changes that I have noticed as a spectator that don't necessarily fall in the category of servicing the competition of the players as much as servicing the TV production. I would hope that in the long and short of it these adjustments are all for my benefit as a spectator. I'm not complaining. I only hope that one day enough people in my town would be interested in professional tennis as spectators to host an event here. The San Jose event is now the new Bogata event. I would love to go to Bogata. But San Jose is a lot closer. Tennis is fun to watch and making the effort to see live matches all over the world on TV or in person is a good part of what makes it so fun for me. I look forward to the day when others get excited to see my favorite sport more up close and personal on TV and in their hometown.

The galaxy is located 21 million light-years away in the constellation of Ursa Major (The Great Bear). NGC 5474 itself is part of the Messier 101 Group. The brightest galaxy within this group is the well-known spiral Pinwheel Galaxy (also known as Messier 101). This galaxy's prominent, well-defined arms classify it as a "grand design galaxy," along with other spirals Messier 81 and Messier 74. Also within this group are Messier 101's galactic neighbors. Finding the Perfect Job Right Out of College

College graduation is a great accomplishment. But if you arrive to your college commencement with no job prospects, the celebration could be short lived. Depending on your major in college, chances are you did not complete college with any real marketable work experience. Don't feel bad; there are very few undergraduate degrees that translate directly into professional experience. Unless you are an accountant or something really useful or specialized you will be facing the job market like the rest of us letters and science majors. Generally educated. After graduating with my BA in Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley, I worked for 4 years in downtown San Francisco as a recruiter for software engineers. I found the job listed on the on campus job board. My kind of process…call…set appointment…show up…start on Monday. My boss was straight out of a Jerry Maguire movie. Plan your work and work your plan. In the process I learned to coach computer programmers and software development managers on the hiring process. If you are in a specialized field such as computer programming or accounting chances are after a couple of years of on the job experience you could be helped along your career path by a recruiter. Sometimes recruiters are called headhunters. Headhunters from independent recruiting companies often help to fill important or specialized positions in a company. In my case it was mostly computer programmers. But there are a lot of employment companies that specialize in clerical help too. When you begin your job search focus on important aspects of your college experience. Following your professional interests as closely as you possibly can go a long way to accentuate your strengths. Sometimes a particular specialty that sparks your interest will be a shared interest with your potential employers. All good hiring managers will tell you that skills and education will get you in the door but it is being a personality fit that will get you the job. Having a strong, well-organized one-page resume that showcases your past experience is a given. But what will set you on course for the dream job? Get out a journal because setting some goals is the name of the game. Writing down your goals can help set your vision for the future firmly in mind. Ask yourself the important questions like where do I see myself in five years? Or what makes you special over the competition? Because if you have the opportunity to be asked these questions by your future employer, you want to have authentic heartfelt answers ready. Even if your future boss does not ask you these questions you will be happy to look back years from now and know you stuck to your guns and lived your dream. Close ...(read more)

Pondering Summer Hits of the 1990s on Pandora Summer Party Hits of the '90s, an Oxymoron?

I'm listening to my Pandora. I have it set to the summer hits of the '90s and it is by no means a party mix. Third Eye Blind is just about danceable, but they want something else to get through a semi toned kind of life...bummer. You cannot write an article about the music of the 90's decade without a shout out for Nirvana's Nevermind. I've heard it said too many times how that album changed the music scene. I still want to hear every song on the album. The vibe is certainly felt in just about all the other songs I hear on this station. Summer hits of the 1990's may not be excellent patry music, but it is good for pondering and writing. Sixpence None the Ritcher's, Kiss Me. I saw them perform it on David Letterman. Their music and sound remind me so much of the Cranberry's...Saw them on Jimmy Fallon. Neither of these bands would get through American Idol today. I saw a pair of singers get reprimanded harshly and sent packing by Simon for singing the Cranberries...bummer. Timelessness and spanning decades is a great quality for my local boys...The Red Hot Chili Peppers. They ROCKED the Superbowl this year. Californication came out in June 1999. Just in time for the 90's to party a bit in the summer. I was too busy playing earth mother to my baby to fully appreciate this one when it came out. The summer hits of the 90's I am listening to this afternoon make me think the 1990's were a tamer time. Tal Bachman's She's So High just came on. That was a huge hit and it is about as cheery as the 90's gets. It' has a very a naive cute theme. Not like Californication it is like a cake and ice cream party a mom could throw. Sugar Ray's Someday. Domesticated beach music. Eve 6's (never heard of them) Inside Out makes me think they must have been a one hit wonder. Green Day's Insomniac. The best new punky grungy artists of a pretty punky grungy artistic decade to make it out alive? Blip...I mean Blink 182's Dammit. What happened did they grow up and forget how to play? Oasis' Wonderwall I think there used to be a venue in San Francisco called the Oasis. I love that name. Tonic's If You Could Only See. This is a song a woman would want to sing at karaoke. Impossible to get the hetero gender going on those lyrics for a woman. Green Day's When I come Around worth repeating...if not for Green Day what would the 1990's have been? They are like the Cure cool...but way younger. And maybe not as British musical? If Smash Mouth hadn't of made it into the Trek movies would they have been as popular? Their song Walkin' On The Sun was one of the peppiest songs I've heard today. If I wasn't writing about summer hits of the '90s, I don't think I would have kept listening. But for the purposes of writing, I have to say this music has been quite enjoyable.

#Hollywood Daddy Pick of the Day: #TomCruise Tom Cruise's Numbers and His Personality Are Impressive

It doesn't matter if he is real or fake he is always Tom Cruise. Kids love consistency. That's what makes an excellent relationship especially father-child. Father's Day, next month, has got to be super special for adopted kids with celebrity dads. Who would not love to have Tom Cruise as a dad? He has to be one of the most self-assured people on the planet. He just seems so steady but wily enough so that if he was your dad he would probably be more wild than you...so it would be hard to get into trouble with him. Tom Cruise. I'm not a big fan. But I really like him. His movies are indicative of his era in Hollywood. Tom is a true icon. He takes up a pretty interesting place in film history. Shakespeare had words. Tom is all images. From his underwear dancing, to babysitting an adult brother he wanted to steal from, to spy guy Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible franchise. How can anyone not recognize him as an exceptional performer? It is not surprising he has a new film out now. He is traveled the globe this week to promote Edge of Tomorrow. Tom Cruise's movie productions have had consistent box office over perform value. And he's not only as an actor. He has over a dozen film credits as a producer or executive producer. Tom Cruise is and has been a Hollywood legend for a long while now. Tom Cruise may not be the most decorated actor, but he has a lot more hits than flops. Judging from the trailer of Edge of Tomorrow, the alien invasion war genre was too juicy for him to pass up as an action character. Cruise's two adopted kids with Nicole Kidman Isabella, 21 and Connor 17, chose to live with their father rather than with their mother when they divorced. Tom could adopt me any day. Love him? Hate him? Don't think of him much? Everyone still knows at least one or more of his film roles. Tom Cruise is just very very consistent. Tom's characters always have a comfortable emotional range. You know what to expect from them emotionally. That could be what makes him so appealing. Anyone would love to have had a dad who is going to show up and always be on a pretty even emotional keel. Especially if he is generally a good guy. And then there is all that money. Did you click the box office link?

Summertime May Be the Best to Track Down Retired Pro Tennis Players Where Do Professional Tennis Players Go When Their Careers End?

In the world of professional tennis, it used to be very common that even the top stars' careers to have ended by the time they reached the age of 30. Many now are competing well past that age. Elena Dementieve, Xavier Malisse, Fernando Gonzalez, Marat Safin, Dinara Safina, Juan Carlos Ferrero are just a hand full of professional tennis players who have left the tour in the past couple of years. After retirement some former pros are more visible than others. The days for the likes of Martina Hingis winning her first few grand slams.before the age of 18 are long over. WTA rules limits the number of matches players under the age of 18 can play in a calendar year. There are a few occurrences of teenagers in the main draw of this years French Open.So we will have to stay tuned and see if any of them make the leap to the business end of a 2000 Major Event and buck the trend. Here in the United states our sports coverage for professional tennis is very limited. Major League Baseball and NFL Football are unparalleled for media coverage and attention in the United States. Andy Roddick was our last American male professional player to consistently end the year (9 years consecutively) in the top 10 in the ATP World Rankings. He retired a year or 2 ago. I heard on Roland Garros Radio today that Andy is a broadcaster for Fox Sports News. Elena has done some of the same for the Russian speaking audience. Juan Carlos Ferrero had a tennis academy and owned part of the Valencia Open before he retired. Last year he was very visible as the tournament director. Dinara Safina officially celebrated her retirement at the and sat for an interview at the Madrid Open a week or 2 ago. Her career was cut short by a back injury. Hopefully she will be able to stay around the tennis tour. There is a bit of a trend for former legends coming back to coach current stars. Marat Safin with Ernests Gulbis would be pretty interesting! Professional Tennis is a wonderful spectator sport. Tracking active players worldwide year round isn't easy. If retired players choose to avoid the limelight we just have to wait for them to surface. The French Open is going on now through May 25th. And then Wimbledon is just a couple weeks after. If you have a favorite retired player, then these tournaments are great places to possibly see them in action behind the scenes.

Two Candidates for Best Male Celebrities to Crush On Celebrity Families in the News

Two of my favorite male celebrities have been in the news surrounding their families in the past couple months for very different reasons. Chris Martin and Ms Paltrow are getting uncoupled. Roger and Mirka Federer just welcomed their second set of twins into the world. Chris has the Mega celebrity actress wife versus Roger's former tennis professional Earth Mother wife. Ms. Paltrow has celebrity parents (her mom was Will's mom on Will and Grace). I loved her in The Royal Tenenbaums…quirky character, but not so much more recently with Robert Downey Jr in the Iron Man franchise…if they could have developed her character around the violent display she showed at the end of Iron Man 3 then she might have been more interesting and likeable. Chris Martin and Roger Federer are superstar sweethearts. Super nice guys. Chris Martin is one of my favorite musical artists. If I ever get to meet him I'd like to compare my favorite artists with his. I just have a feeling he might idolize some of the same singer songwriters that I do. Roger Federer may be the best human being to ever pick up a tennis racket because no one has ever done what he has done in his tennis career with craft and niceness. Nice is a surprising word to use when it comes to the mano a mano cutthroat game of tennis. Roger is the Maestro of tennis and Chris is the Maestro of Coldplay. I first heard of Chris at the Los Angeles Open or Farmers Classic at UCLA in 2011. Coldplay played at UCLA after the tennis tournament on a stage built miraculously on center court. I was a volunteer usher during the tournament and I got in for free. I had only heard of Coldplay because the song Yellow is on a set of karaoke CD's that I own and I have sung it a couple times. I have since followed Coldplay on Facebook. Chris did a seriously intense interview/live performance on the Howard Stern Show that I caught on YouTube. I'm a huge admirer of the guy and I wonder if the uncoupling has to do with him being with someone else or if he's totally single like me. He seems kind of attainable. It could do a lot for the popularity of the band if he's really single. Single women like celebrity crushes and it kind of ruins the fantasy when they marry.

Lompoc, Got Meat?

Plenty of Places to Shop for Meat in Lompoc, CA This is what comes up when you search for butcher shops in Lompoc, CA. I had to add La Michoacana. It took me a minute to realize it was not there. I drive past #4 to go buy chicken burritos for lunch at La Michoacana. I cannot say that La Michoacana is better than any of these, but I can say it is the one I frequent. Bruces Prime Cuts has been in town for a very long time, and they have always been known to compete generously against the big grocery stored for fundraiser barbeques. They lost out by a slim margin to Vons with an organization I was once involved with.I do not know why Vons or Albertsons did not make it on the search because they both have super meat departments with excellent butchers. I love Food Cos. Their meat is okay, but it just does not have the fresh cut feel that Vons and Albertsons do. I think the Spanish speaking community in my town must eat a lot of meat, because a couple other Hispanic grocery stores with meat departments have not been listed. My sister used to live by #2. I am a little surprised they have so much yelp activity. I have only gone on yelp a couple of times, but I can tell you I prefer the burritos at La Michoacana. They are the only one that have a restaurant associated (right across the parking lot) with them as far as I know. I have a new bias for Vons as my son just got promoted this week and is the butcher's assistant there. Unfortunately, I am not a big meat eater, but I expect I will have a lot more to say about meat as time goes on. I am sure he is learning a lot about meat and best butcher practices. So stay tuned. I will be learning right along with him and I am sure I will have a lot to muse about when it comes to meat and butchers in the near future. Brunch for One on the Cheap, Everybody Is Alone Sometimes

Menu: Pineapple jalapeno poppers Bagel with cream cheese Good Cheer coffee Crockpot Surprise Good Cheap Pinot Grigio On your own to celebrate the three-day weekend? Food is the best comfort. You gotta eat right? Going to a buffet with the champagne mimosas flowing is a lot of fun. But unlike going to a movie it is not the most socially comfortable thing to do.So this weekend let's stay at home and celebrate on our own together. The menu for today's brunch is uber simple. Jalapeno poppers are the quickest easiest hot fancy snack that I know. And it has meat and veggies! Even at the most fancy all you can eat buffet brunches you will find bagels and cream cheese. And it is a holiday so let the good times roll and get your drink on with tainted coffee with your bagel and a nice cheap glass of wine with your poppers J Crockpot Chicken is THE most popular recipe on Sparkpeople.com recipes. In my household it has morphed so many times it is different every time. Chicken or pork, canned beans and/or dry beans, canned corn, canned tomato something, and maybe some fresh veggies like fresh diced carrots, or a bag of frozen vegetable medley. Fill it up with liquid, chicken bouillon, add ground cumin…you have a family standby for life…and it's great for brunch. Cooking for one in celebration times is an art. Jalapeno poppers are pretty efficient on the calories and can be stored in the fridge and reheated for about two days. Don't make a habit out of the Cheerful Coffee (even though a harmless couple of tablespoons of booze sure taste better than sugar). Keep munching on the Crock-pot chicken for up to 3 days. I found a great array of wines from Livingston Cellar's on the shelf at my local liquor store super cheap (1.5 litre for $5.99 plus tax). As a pretty big bottle this will last through dinner for a couple days. When a bagel and a cuppa won't do it because it's a holiday…spice things up…skip breakfast and lunch and celebrate with a brunch. This menu is perfect for those 3 day weekends when you can just kick back, listen to music, watch a couple movies. Everybody is welcome, but if the schedule doesn't call for a large party, don't pass up the chance to celebrate even if you are alone. Close

 Cowabonga!  My hips feel good!!

Beginners Guide to Best Nutritional Practices for Peak Performance

Food as Fuel
If you have ever trained for a marathon or even a half marathon, you have probably tinkered with your food already. When we ask our bodies to move and go beyond the normal energy requirements of the normal resting metabolism rates, then the difference food can make in athletic performance is significant. When your fitness level is such that you can run or walk more than 3 miles you are ready to start thinking of food as fuel. One of the great a-ha moments of my fitness and nutrition life happened for me when I went on my first backpacking trip. I noticed the difference in the energy level of my body before a snack versus after a snack for the first time. The difference between satisfaction from hunger is very different than the feeling of moving with energy or ease because of the type and amount of food you are eating. So when you are running a marathon (I personally prefer halves), there is no question that your running life will be much easier to sustain with greater results in any category you choose to track when you focus on eating foods that will give your body enough energy to move you around and recover from everything you ask it to do. What are your eating habits now? What is your body type and age? Have you been active your entire life or is running a marathon or half marathon a whim? As always in any situation when you are focused on your health, you should be checked by a trusted medical professional…especially if you are already under their care for something. Listen to your body. Whether you are beginning to train for a marathon or ready to run one tomorrow the good news is carbohydrates are your friend. If you are at or close to your ideal body weight for your age and height, then you may find adding extra quality carbohydrate calories to your diet is necessary to avoid bonking in your workouts. Carbohydrates are the main component of nutrition in food and the only fuel used by your brain. You need carbohydrates…especially for recovery. A typical meal plan for training for a marathon would have about 60% carbohydrates, 30% protein and 10% good fats. Here is an example of a healthy meal plan. Breakfast: Bagel, fat free cream cheese, banana, and coffee or tea Morning Snack: Apple Lunch: Healthy salad with lettuce, carrots, cucumber, tuna, boiled egg, dried cranberry, fat free dressing of your choice. Afternoon Snack: Celery with peanut butter Dinner: Chicken Alfredo with Whole Wheat Pasta and Spinach. Evening Snack: Herbal Tea. Once you have decided to train for a marathon you will be kicking the calories you burn up quite a few notches. Eating healthy nutritious meals regularly is essential for success in fueling your body to give you the best results for races and recovery.

Somehow I missed the Cure in the 90's when he wasn't playing the guitar all the time...honestly it looks like he focused better as a singer when he was playing the guitar rather than photographing...but way better singing if he's doing something else too!! 3##

#RafaelNadal...Some People Love Him Some People Hate Him Either Way...He Da Man

I admit it, I was and am in love with Roger Federer. I started watching professional tennis as a major pass time about the time Roger was having his last hopes of winning the French Open due to the dominance of Rafa...I wanted Roger to beat him! These days I'm not particularly a fan of one player over another as I am a fan of the Sport. The lovely commentators on ESPN3.com and TennisTV.com and whoever Robbie Koenig and those guys speak for (I'm assuming the ATP?) are always talking about how Rafa and Roger transcend the sport. I totally agree. I am completely brainwashed by the international commentators because they are the only ones that I get comprehensive tennis perspective from. I am so grateful for Facebook and Twitter for giving the players access to fans. I have to say that the best players tend to have some interest in social media (not so much the French). Rafa promotes and apparently plays online poker! Before I was into tennis as a spectator online poker was a favorite pass time. Unfortunately some sort of debacle happened and the site I prefer got busted for cheating their best customers...They are finally back online but only offering play money options and a lot fewer regular tournaments and sit and go play. I know I'd rather watch Rafa play tennis or even hit with him than play poker...but I also know I'd beat him at poker and probably not get a point on the tennis court :)

Day Before St Valentine's Day #PlentyOfFish One Day Profile

Hello. I am a nice lady. I have been single most all my life. Only married once. I am finding more and more that Plenty of Fish is like any other social networking site to me except I only meet single men not everybody. I like to cook...Cleaning has it's place and time...I like to clean as I go. Valentines day is tomorrow!! OMG...so many men so little time! Hehehehe I'm a hopeless romantic in that I don't put much hope in romance lately. But it is Valentine's Day week so maybe I'll get hit by one of those proverbial arrows of cupid...Arrows could happen right?! :) I wax and wane on writing my profile. It's fun sometimes...THAT MADE ME LAUGH.
